Many cyclists feel that the pain they experience in the knees, wrists, upper back and neck are just a normal part of cycling. What they are often surprised to find out is that improper bike fit and training can cause all of these problems and more! When you are in poor alignment, not only will you feel the pain, but you lose power as well. Bike shop employees may be able to fit you to a great bike based on your cycling needs, but they aren’t always able to take into account the subtle points, such as your medical history, present injury status, history, age and propensity for injury. Poor fit can contribute to pain and injury risk!
Your evaluation is performed by a Physical Therapist trained in bike fitting. Each comprehensive fitting includes an analysis of current bike position, assessment of painful areas, and a structural biomechanical assessment of your body. Your session includes recommendations regarding your ideal bike position and flexibility in addition to strengthening and conditioning exercises to meet your physical needs to prevent and address injury.
